Major George Preddy is the world's top Mustang ace. He was the leading active ace in the ETO when killed by Allied ground fire on Christmas Day 1944. He won the DSC for his record of six Me 109s on one mission. Preddy's score at the end of WW II was 27 1/2 aerial plus five ground victories. His brother, Lt. William Preddy, claimed two aerial victories before being KIA by enemy ground fire on the last mission flown by his 339th Fighter Group. George flew the P-40, P-47 and both flew the P-51

I was stationed with LtCol. Mark "Stitch" Miller in Torrejon AB Spain. He was a great pilot and friend. He passed away in November 2003. I learn. My brother, F/O Robert E. Fox, enlisted in the Air Corps in 1943 at 18, a year after he graduated from Lincoln High School, Lincoln, NE. In 1941, he played end on the State Champion football team. After flight training in the United States, he was sent to Italy where he was assigned to the 301st Bombardment Group Heavy of the 15th Air Force, in Lucera, Italy. He was the navigator on a B-17 which bombed Eastern Europe. He was killed on 29 Oct 1944 at the age of 20; his plane did return.

Lt. Col. John L. Brown was a very special man. He was my father-in-law, but he was also a man who made the military his life. He was present in the Korean war, World War II and Vietnam. He was a great pilot, he loved his wife, his sons and his grandchildren. My husband, John, his son, is always filled with pride when he talks about all of his father's accomplishments. I served as a Lt with an outstanding team at Mt Hebo AFS. I found myself with truly great NCOs, and Airmen. They had the training and experience to complete the many different radar operations, maintenance, and support tasks. On a daily basis, they demonstrated integrity, service before self, and skill. They overcame the difficulties at an isolated, mountainous location with extremely adverse weather conditions. They set the standards that I was to follow in my 20 year Air Force career.

Robert H Meek was born Feb. 12, 1922 just outside Portsmouth, OH. In the fall of 1941 he entered Penn State on a football scholarship. After Pearl Harbor he joined the Army Air Corp. He was stationed in Colombis SC where he met my mother Iris Corbin. They were married June 2, 1944, he left for Corsica on August 29, 1944 and was KIA on October 19, 1944. His son and only child was born March 20, 1945. I am always his proud posthumous son and only child Robert H. Meek, JR Colonel AUS (RET)

My father dedicated his life to serving in the United States Airforce during Korea and VIetnam. He was a bomber on the B-29 and a aricraft mechanic. He upheld the strongest morales and ethics. As a child he taught me how to live and respect life. Now as an adult I can only thank him for his unselfishness to dedicate his life to serve our county and the respect he had for the United States of America.

While on a training mission, 28 Feb 84, Capt Rod Gress, (USAFA '74), leader of a Combat Control Team, was preparing to make a jump, when the C-130 Hercules collided into a mountain outside Zaragoza, Spain. Rod was 2 weeks short of his 30th birthday. Rod was my Brother-in-law and a true patriot. There was nothing he would not have done for this Country. He was proud of the Air Force and loved doing his job. His family and friends miss him and keep him in our prayers always.

Clement R. Haulman, who passed away in May 2006, rose to the rank of Colonel in the Air Force Reserve. He was a World War II veteran, having served as a B-24 bomber pilot in the 44th Bombardment Group in World War II. His last home was in Gainesville, Florida. One of his sons, David R. Haulman, became a KC-135 pilot, and another son, David's twin brother Daniel, became an Air Force historian.

I want to thank all of the doctors, nurses,healthcare providers, and my fellow nurse anesthetists of the 332nd AFTH who served in Balad, Iraq. We cared for one another as we performed more than 5,000 surgeries in very unpredictable, dangerous, and austere conditions. I pray that this war, with its uneccessary suffering, will end. God Bless us all and this AF memorial in memory of the heroes who continue to sacrifice so much. Forever in His Grace.

Tom served honorably in the crypo groups for both Desert Sheild and Desert Storm. He was an NCO of the year, retired from the Air Force as a Master Sergeant & continued to proudly serve his country in the private sector. He is inurned in the columbaria at Arlington. My hero is my wife and daughter that followed me around the world for 27 wonderful years. They are the ones that put up with the 3am phone calls asking for "the Shirt" for 11 years. They kept the home fires burning when I was sleeping in a tent somewhere. My wife was the one that comforted me and my daughter when they told us Michelle had cancer. She held her hand while they did the biopsy and then comforted me on the phone from my TDY location. How could I not call them "heroes?"

Darned few soldiers that were MIA, sent their air rescue away once they were located only because there were too many enemy in the area. Then, once captured, even though Lance was severely injured, he insisted on helping his fellow POWs escape, never complaining about his injuries. Lance Sijan is the epitome of what most of us soldiers would have LIKED to have been.

Major Troy “Trojan” Gilbert devoted over twelve years of distinguished service to the U.S. Air Force, accumulating over 1,000 hours in the F-16 and 130 hours in combat theaters around the world. The son of a military family, his values and devotion to duty were reflected in every facet of his life. Trojan spent the last two years assigned as an F-16 Instructor Pilot at Luke AFB, AZ, deploying to Balad AB, Iraq in September 2006. He believed with all his heart in the mission being carried out there, and gave his life protecting personnel actively engaged in ground combat near Fallujah, Iraq on 27 November, 2006. His selfless dedication as a Christian, husband, father, and military officer is without equal, and all who know and love him are thankful for the gifts he brought to our lives.

Ssgt. Robert E. Foster/KIA/BNR/E5 US Air Force gave his life in South Vietnam for the service of his country and my freedom on March 9,1966, but his remains were never returned to his country and family. He was a brave man who flew in an AC47(Puff the Magic Dragon)with the 4th Air Commando Squadron out of Da Nang Airfield. He deserves better than he has gotten. I wear his bracelet. May he rest in peace.

On November 26, 1943 the British troopship, the HMT Rohna, was attacked from the air and destroyed in the Mediterranean Sea off the coast of Algeria, killing 1015 US Army Air Corps Airmen en route to fight the Germans. My grandfather, Peter Sidoti, was one of the survivors of this tragedy that took so many young and promising Airmen. My grandfather was a great man and a brave Airman, and his contributions to our family and our nation will always be remembered.

My hero is my father and friend Terry Robinson. He proudly served in the USAF from 1959-1962. He was stationed at Kadena Air Force Base on Okinawa. There he was assigned to the 6313th Supply Squadron and the 498th Tactical Missile group. After his tour my dad came home and started his career as a police officer with LAPD. As a rookie he worked the Watts Riots. He also worked with PSPD from 1968-1997. He retired from there after 29 years of service. I am very proud to call him my father.

My Father was an F-86 All Weather Interceptor Pilot with the 322nd FIS. He is my hero becuase when my brother died of Leukemeia back in 1971, he took his pain and focused it into starting the Leukemeia Research Task Force at the U of MN (it has now been absorbed into the U of MN's larger funding circle). His efforts raised many millions of dollars and he was basically an unsung hero for his efforts to try to help find a cure. Unfortunately he passed away nearly 9 years ago. I miss and love him.

Col. William Shomo is my hero. He served in the Pacific in WW11 flying P-51 becoming an Ace and he was the receipent of our country's highest honor, the Medal Of Honor. He was my Squadron commander the 59th fighter interceptor squadron at Goose Bay Lab. 1954/55 Col. Shomo was an enlisted man's commander, firm, fair and honest. The world could certainly use more men like Col. William Shomo

Besides being the best father in the world, my dad is a June 1943 graduate of West Point. He was a P-51 fighter pilot during WWII and went on to have a 30 year career in the USAF, retiring in 1972. My hero is a man of honesty, integrity, intelligence, patriotism, and compassion.

My hero is my father, Lt Col Edgar P. Cason, USAF(ret), who passed away 1 Jan 2006. Dad served in WWII as a young pilot flying missions over Europe in B-24s. He is also flew during Korea and VietNam, and completed a distinguished 28 year career in Aug 1969. My childhood memories of him include early morning departures and wonderful, exciting returns, always with a new stuff animal or interesting doll from a foreign country. He was a man of great character and remains my hero to this day.

Lt Norman E. Henderson, my great-uncle, was a co-pilot and nav on a B-17G, 44-6090, shot down 9 Aug 1944 on a mission to Karlsrhue Germany. "Uncle Jack" was the only crew member that did not come home. My AF career brought me to Maxwell AFB for a few weeks, and I was able to meet the Tail Gunner on that mission, Howard Bynum. My tribute is to the 305 BG, 365 BS, Chelveston England, those who came home and those who did not. Thank you to all who have served, are serving, and will serve.

to honor the members of the bomber combat crew of major rockford c. griffith who flew with him on many dangerous missions over Europe in 1943-1945. they endured msny hazards and deadly enemy fire but their dedication to duty and survival was an example for all Americans. They deserve all the honors, from training through combat duties and hardships. They were part of the 67th Squadron, 44th Bomb Group, 8th Air Force 1943--1945.

Col and Doctor Judith Lombeida was an Air Force neurologist. Her assignments included Andrews AFB, USAF Academy, and Keesler AFB as chief of neurology. She was born in Ecuador, South America. During her military tenure she was awarded “The Star of the Armed Forces of Ecuador”, one of Ecuador’s highest military medals, and the first and only women to ever receive this honor. She was a first time immigrant to the United States and became a U.S. citizen while on active duty. In July 2006 she was killed while on active duty serving honorably for 19 years and 9 months. Dr. Lombeida was renowned for the medical care and compassion she provided to military members and led numerous medical missions to Central and South American countries.

I recently learned of my father's career in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He served five years of active duty, which included 40 combat missions and an assignment as a flight instructor at Randolph Air Force Base in Texas. My father has always been my greatest hero, and it makes me extremely proud to learn of his great contributions to our freedoms in the United States Of America.
