Tribute for: Alfred Novak  (Alexandria, VA)
Tribute left by: Barbara  Clark (Fairfax STation, VA)
My hero was (and is) my Dad. Dad served his Country with pride and instilled that pride in his family. He served in three wars, was shot down over Germany, we lived with the "red" phone and he was on TDY more times than I can remember. My Dad died, unexpectedly, in 1999 the day after Valentine's Day. He never talked about himself and he never made a fuss over the many honors he received. He loved his family and his Country and he taught us to love both!

I was bursting with pride when he returned to us safe & sound. He showed us more of the world than most people ever get to see but I always knew I was safe when I was with him. He never stops looking out for his family & is one of the most patriotic people I know.

I first met Pam in 1977 at Homestead AFB where I worked in the ICU and she was charge nurse of the medical floor. There are many people alive today due to her dedication. Pam served in Viet Nam and the first gulf war caring for medevaced soldiers. We lost touch from 79 until 2001 and were married 5 years ago. As a retired officer she continues her exemplary Air Force bearing as both an RN and citizen. I am proud she is my wife. I spent only one tour of duty but she has renewed my AF pride.
